Trans Day of Rememberance

Letters & Cards of Hope for Trans Folx

As the time of Trans Day of Remembrance is upon us, we sit with and hold the weight of our time. In this time when our transgender family is facing not only violence from individuals but also societal and political violence, it is more important than ever for people rooted in community to act in support, love, and justice.

Sometimes even a small amount of hope can save a life. With the goal toward giving hope to individuals in our community who too often see no hope, we are asking that people in faith communities take time to write a card or letter in support of transgender individuals.

Start Writing

How do we begin? Perhaps you can...

  • Gather members of your community groups to write together after a service

  • Act to organize individuals across your community to write letters and cards

  • Find a time yourself in individual effort to write a letter, a card, or a note that speaks into the difficulty with a reminder of themes of Peace, Joy, Love, and Hope

If you would like to financially support this process, we are continuing our collaboration with Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice for organizations wishing to sponsor these efforts. Funds will go toward supplies for the in-person Letters & Cards of Hope and just compensation for the community members who manage the intake and redistribution of these cards.

For individuals who wish to contribute, we are also partnering with Trans Wellness, a 509(a)(2) nonprofit, to expand our ability to offer mutual support and micro support within the community.
