Everything you need to know!

Navigating the medical system can be incredibly difficult, especially for transgender and gender-non-conforming individuals. The Trans Surgery 101 class was developed to help individuals interested in gender-affirming care procedures  understand their options for medical care, how to navigate the medical system, get time off from work, remain financially stable during the recovery period, and tips and tricks to make the hospital and home recovery as comfortable as possible.

We welcome trans and gender non-conforming individuals interested in medical care, folks who are interested in supporting a loved one through transition, and mental and medical health providers to attend.

This class can be helpful for anyone, but the information is specific to Wisconsin surgery providers.

Hands-on demos of medical implements and recovery supplies

Information about results, common complications, and surgery options

Considerations to help you choose your insurance coverage, get an accurate quote, secure prior authorization, and appeal a claim denial

Learn to leverage financial aid and other benefits that will save you money and time

Mentally and emotionally prepare for the process of surgery readiness and recovery

Know about hospital amenities before admission and set up a functional, comfortable recovery location for after discharge
